Metal Fabrication Quoting Software for Complex Jobs

Estimate sheet metal, tube, profiles, machining and assemblies in one connected workflow. Quotation Factory reads CAD files, applies your shop rates and prepares a quote your team can review before it reaches the customer.

Quotation Factory is metal fabrication quoting software for shops working across sheet metal, laser cutting, tube and profile, CNC machining, finishing and multi-part assemblies. It uses CAD geometry and configurable production rules to estimate material, operations and machine time, then connects confirmed quotes to ERP and CAM systems.

[ The challenge ]

Fabrication quotes become slow when every operation lives in a different sheet.

[ 01 ]

One RFQ spans several processes

A job can combine cut sheet, profiles, machined components, welding and finishing. Estimators have to assemble the cost by hand before they can send one offer.

[ 02 ]

Material and labor assumptions drift

Each estimator may use a different allowance, rate or setup time. Small differences accumulate across multi-operation jobs.

[ 03 ]

Drawings and revisions scatter

CAD files, PDFs and customer notes often arrive in separate messages. Rechecking them takes time, especially when a revision changes a component.

[ 04 ]

Accepted quotes need re-entry

Teams copy line items into ERP and recreate production details in CAM. The handoff creates another chance for errors.

[ The solution ]

Quote the full fabrication route from one RFQ.

Analyze part and assembly geometry, then apply the right calculation logic to each operation. Configure material prices, cutting and machining parameters, joining work, finishing and margin rules around the way your shop actually runs.

[ Quote scope ]

Metal fabrication quoting software: price the whole route

A fabrication quote can include sheet parts from laser cutting quoting software, a profile, a CNC quoting software and a welded assembly. Each part uses its own calculation rules, then the costs roll into one offer.

Finishing and outsourced work can be included as costed steps. The result stays itemized so an estimator can explain the price and check margin before it is sent.

Think of a fabricated enclosure: flat panels are cut and bent, a bracket is machined, tabs and seams are welded, and the finished unit is coated. A useful quote records the material and operations for each component. It also accounts for setup, quantities, purchased items and any external finishing charge. That breakdown gives the estimator a place to inspect a surprising number before it becomes a customer price.

Steel fabrication quote: plate, beams and welding

A steel fabrication quote usually starts with plate and beams, then adds cutting, drilling, welding and coating. Where EN 1090 applies to your work, the extra steps your shop configures for it can appear as visible lines, so each steel fabrication quote shows what the price includes.

[ CAD to production ]

Supported CAD files for fabrication quotes (STEP, JT, DXF, DWG, PDF)

STEP or JT assemblies can provide component structure, while DXF, DWG and PDF files supply supporting drawings. A flat drawing with missing dimensions may need estimator review; the platform does not invent geometry that is absent from the source.

After acceptance, the Edge Connector can send data toward ERP and CAM systems. Supported integrations include Ridder IQ, MKG, Bemet and TruTops Fab, subject to configuration.

A review step matters when an assembly has several revisions or nonstandard operations. Estimators can check the part list, manufacturing route, material grade and customer terms, then make a controlled adjustment. That keeps automation useful for routine work while leaving unusual jobs with the people who know the shop.

For repeat work, those configured rules give the next estimator a consistent starting point. For a new job, the team can identify which assumptions need confirmation: a special alloy, an unusual weld, a subcontracted coating or a production method outside the normal route. The quote can then be reviewed with the right context instead of hiding those decisions in a personal spreadsheet.

[ Compare workflows ]

Fabrication quoting in Excel vs one connected workflow

A rate spreadsheet can calculate a line item. Multi-process fabrication also needs a reliable part breakdown, operation route, review step and production handoff.

When a drawing changes, the estimator needs to know which component, material choice or operation changed with it. A shared quote workflow makes those decisions easier to find than a chain of copied files and email attachments.
